- Onvo president Shen Fei told his team that L90 deliveries must exceed 10,000 units in August, according to a local media report.
- To date, only the ES6 and Onvo L60 models under Nio Inc have achieved monthly deliveries exceeding 10,000 units.
The L90, Onvo's flagship SUV (sport utility vehicle) model, is poised to become one of the highest-delivered models in Nio Inc's (NYSE: NIO) history in its first month of deliveries.
Onvo president Shen Fei has told his team that the L90 must deliver over 10,000 units in August, according to a report by local media outlet Yiou today.
Based on this target, the Onvo L90 could become Nio's highest-selling model in a single month, the report noted.
To date, the ES6 SUV holds the record for the highest monthly delivery of a Nio Inc model, with 11,118 units delivered in July 2023, according to data compiled by CnEVPost. This is the only time a single Nio-brand model has seen monthly deliveries exceed 10,000 units.
The L60, the Onvo brand's first model launched in September 2024, delivered 10,528 units in December last year, making it the only other model under the Nio Inc umbrella to have ever surpassed 10,000 monthly deliveries.
Onvo officially launched the L90 on July 31 and began deliveries of the SUV the following day on August 1.
The electric SUV has a starting price of RMB 265,800 ($36,860) including the battery pack, a price considered competitive and key to its strong initial acceptance.
The Nio sub-brand produced a large number of vehicles in advance for the L90, enabling rapid delivery of the model.
The Onvo L90 delivered 1,976 units in the first 72 hours after delivery began, making it the third-best-selling large SUV in China for the week of July 28 to August 3, according to a report by local media outlet Yiche on August 5.
Yesterday, Shen shared a video on Weibo showing Nio's factory working around the clock to ship L90 vehicles.
As with previous models, Nio did not disclose any order numbers for the L90.
At a media briefing held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on August 1, Nio founder, chairman, and CEO William Li said that orders for the model exceeded expectations.
However, this was quickly interrupted by the cautious Shen, who said that the L90's performance did not meet his personal expectations because it overshadowed the appeal of the L60.
