As the Dow Jones Industrial Average and other stock indexes moved lower Tuesday, retail giant Walmart (WMT), IBD Leaderboard stock Elbit Systems (ESLT), Gold Fields (GFI) and Rubrik (RBRK) are among the best names to watch in the current stock market.
While the stock market rally has cooled off a bit, investors should still be looking for new breakouts using The IBD Methodology. It's also important to raise and lower exposure methodically, as those positions gain or lose momentum.
Among the best-performing stocks in the Dow Jones average, Walmart stock is rapidly nearing a 100.89 buy point in a flat base, according to MarketSurge chart analysis. Shares slipped along with the broader market during Tuesday's trade.
Walmart stock backstory: The discount retail giant will report its fiscal second-quarter earnings results on Aug. 15. The company is expected to earn 73 cents per share on revenue of $175.6 billion, representing year-over-year increases of 8% and 4%, respectively.

Two names to watch outside the Dow Jones index are Elbit Systems and Gold Fields.
Shares of new IBD Leaderboard stock Elbit are breaking out past a 476.04 flat-base entry. They are in the 5% buy zone, even as they declined nearly 2% midday Tuesday.
Elbit backstory: Elbit, due to report fiscal second-quarter earnings on Aug. 13, has seen revenue growth accelerate for three straight quarters, to 22%. That was fueled not only by Israel's wars against Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran, but also a surge in European defense spending.
The conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, along with President Donald Trump's push for NATO allies to increase defense spending, are "propelling this supercycle we are seeing in defense spend," Elbit Chief Executive Bezhalel Machlis said on the company's May 20 earnings call. He noted the 5% of GDP target for defense-related spending by 2035 for NATO members, which are mostly based in Europe.

Meanwhile, Gold Fields surged past a 26.36 buy point Monday. Shares added to those gains midday Tuesday with a 5% advance, moving further out of buy range.
Gold Fields backstory: Gold Fields is based in South Africa, but also has interests in South America, Ghana and Australia.
Expanding outside of its home country has allowed the firm to broaden its revenue base. One such major project is its Salares Norte mine, a high-grade gold and silver deposit in the Atacama region of northern Chile. The company took 13 years to transition from exploration to production at the site in March 2024 and it's now ramping up the project.
