IDX Reports 17 Million Investors in Indonesia's Capital Market

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) recorded that the number of investors in the capital market reached 17,016,329 Single Investor Identification (SID) on Thursday, July 3, 2025. The number of SIDs increased by 2,144,690 from the end of 2024, amounting to a total of 14,871,639. This growth surpassed IDX's goal of adding 2 million new investors by 2025.

The Director of Development at IDX, Jeffrey Hendrik, believes that the number of investors in Indonesia is still growing significantly. "Compared to the population of Indonesia, the number of investors in the capital market is still relatively low," said Jeffrey in a written statement on Friday, July 4, 2025.

The development of digital technology and easier access to investment services from securities companies have made it easier for people to become investors. IDX has noted a rapid growth in the number of capital market investors since 2020. The number of investors increased to 7.4 million SIDs in 2021, which is a 93 percent increase from the previous year's total of 3.8 million.

Then, in 2022, the number of investors increased by 2.8 million SIDs, a 38 percent increase to 10.3 million SIDs. In 2023, the number of capital market investors increased by 17.9 percent, or 1.9 million SIDs, to 12.1 million SIDs. Furthermore, the number of investors grew by 22.2 percent, or 2.7 million SIDs, to 14.8 million SIDs in 2024.

IDX noted several changes in stock trading data between June 30 and July 4, 2025. IDX's Corporate Secretary Kautsar Primadi Nurahmad stated that the capitalization of the capital market decreased by 0.23 percent, dropping from Rp12.098 trillion the previous week to Rp12.070 trillion. "Furthermore, the movement of the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) over the week changed by 0.47 percent and closed at the level of 6,865.192, down from 6,897.400 last week," he said.

In addition, the average daily trading volume on the exchange this week changed by 12.18 percent to 19.44 billion shares from 22.13 billion shares the previous week. The average daily trading volume decreased by 12.24 percent this week, dropping from 1.19 million transactions last week to 1.05 million this week.

Meanwhile, the average daily transaction value at the IDX decreased by 21 percent from Rp13.15 trillion the previous week to Rp10.39 trillion during the week. On Friday, July 4, 2025, foreign investors recorded a net selling value of Rp465.75 billion. "Throughout 2025, foreign investors recorded a net selling value of Rp 55.99 trillion," said Kautsar.
