‘We cannot be naive’: NATO warns about China

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s decision to skip the NATO summit this week comes as Europe expresses increasing alarm over the security risk posed by China, particularly over its alliance with Russia prolonging the war in Ukraine.

The obvious by-product of Albanese’s non-appearance at this week’s summit – the second year in a row he has snubbed – is the forgone chance of a potential first face-to-face meeting with US President Donald Trump, to make up for their cancelled bilateral rendezvous on the sidelines of the G7.
