IRS intervenes for Ford in dispute with Australian tax officials

Ford has enlisted the Internal Revenue Service as it fights attempts by Australian authorities to wrest billions of dollars from the car maker, a new tactic in attempts by American companies to avoid local taxes.

The Australian Taxation Office is in the midst of similar fights with other major corporations, including oil major ExxonMobil, aluminium manufacturer Alcoa, the world’s largest gold miner Newmont and PepsiCo.
