A Russian Couple Kidnapped in Argentina, Released After Paying $43,000 in Cryptocurrency Ransom

BlockBeats News, May 29th. According to the TN Argentina news website, a Russian couple who run a cryptocurrency business was kidnapped in the Palermo area of Buenos Aires and was later released after paying a $43,000 ransom in cryptocurrency.

The victims were kidnapped when they were invited by two Chechen men to have dinner together at an apartment located at 1596 Ravignani Street. The woman's cries for help caught the attention of nearby restaurant staff, leading the police to discover the tied-up couple.

The suspects have fled to the UAE, and the International Criminal Police Organization has issued a red notice. The victims paid a ransom of $43,000 in cryptocurrency through a friend. The case is currently being investigated by the Argentine Federal Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit and a judge.
