Labor’s sweeping election victory may have resulted in the (briefly paused) divorce of the Liberal and National parties, but it’s brought another duo back together. Newly reinstated Goldstein Liberal MP Tim Wilson and fund manager Geoff Wilson are again joining forces, to the relief of tax minimisers everywhere.
The two are first cousins once-removed and joined forces to fight Labor’s proposed franking credit tax reforms in 2019. Tim even invests in Geoff’s funds, or at least did when he last had to disclose such holdings in 2022. Now, they’re back together to stop Anthony Albanese doubling the tax on earnings on the portion of super fund savings above $3 million.
