BlockBeats News, April 22nd, the United States announced new tariffs on imported solar products from Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. According to a decision announced by the U.S. Department of Commerce on Monday local time, the anti-dumping duties on solar products from the four Southeast Asian countries range from 6.1% to 271.28%, depending on the company and country. The countervailing duties range from 14.64% to 3403.96%. These four countries currently supply approximately 77% of solar panels to the U.S., with last year's exports of solar equipment to the U.S. totaling $12.9 billion. This tariff decision is the final result of a year-long trade investigation. The investigation was initiated by U.S. domestic solar manufacturers and launched under former President Biden. While U.S. domestic manufacturers see this as a victory, the new tariffs may exacerbate cost pressures on the renewable energy industry, which is already facing policy shifts and economic headwinds. The Trump administration is seeking to revive the fossil fuel industry and continues to reduce support for green projects. (Jinse)
