TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) has declared its readiness to accept residents of Gaza, Palestine, as students. This initiative follows President Prabowo Subianto's commitment to temporarily evacuate 1,000 individuals from Gaza to Indonesia.

The Rector of IPB University, Arif Satria, stated that this step represents the university's contribution to supporting the development of human resources in Palestine. Arif affirmed the university's readiness to accommodate Gazan residents who wish to pursue their education at IPB.

"This is our commitment to contribute internationally to improve the scientific capacity and skills of Gazan citizens, so that when they graduate from IPB, they can return to their country equipped with the knowledge gained during their studies at IPB University," Arif explained in a written statement released on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

According to him, IPB University has 60 academic programs suitable for prospective students from Gaza, spanning both the Bachelor's (S1) and Applied Bachelor's (Sarjana Terapan or D4) levels. "All of these study programs are available for selection by residents of Gaza," he said.

Regarding the commencement of lectures, IPB University will adhere to the directives issued by the central government. "In principle, we will follow the stages and timetables set by the government," he clarified.

As widely reported, President Prabowo expressed his intention to temporarily evacuate 1,000 individuals from Gaza to Indonesia. During his visit to five Middle Eastern countries, namely the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, and Jordan, Prabowo sought their support for this humanitarian effort.

Prabowo stated that Indonesia will proceed with this plan upon receiving approval from all relevant parties, including nations currently actively providing assistance to the people of Palestine in Gaza.
