OpenAI and SoftBank (SFTBY) will each contribute $19 billion to the newly announced Stargate Project, a massive artificial intelligence venture, according to The Information. The project, which also includes Oracle (NYSE:ORCL) and MGX, will initially raise $100 billion to develop AI-powered data centers in the U.S., starting in Texas.
The four founding partners will commit roughly $45 billion, with OpenAI and SoftBank each holding a 40% stake. Oracle and MGX are expected to contribute $7 billion each, with additional funds coming from other investors through various financing structures. Other key partners named in the venture include Arm (NASDAQ:ARM), Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA), and Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), with Microsoft already serving as OpenAI's largest investor.
The project gained significant attention following its Tuesday announcement at the White House, where President Donald Trump introduced the initiative alongside SoftBank founder Masayoshi Son, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison.
