ASX Market Update: Index pares early gains in afternoon trade | January 6, 2025

The ASX200 has been down by the smallest of margins at 8,248 points in afternoon trade.

Information Technology has been the best performing sector, up 1.25%, followed by Real Estate, up 1.1%, and Energy, up 0.5%.

Materials has been the worst performing sector, down 1%, followed by Staples, down 0.25%.

Company News

EBR Systems (ASX:EBR) has been up more than 2.5% after the US Food and Drug Administration rescheduled the pre-approval inspection of its manufacturing processes.

EBR Systems has been $1.40.

Peninsula Energy (ASX:PEN) has been down 5.4% on news George Bauk has been appointed managing director and  CEO. The structured succession was initiated after outgoing CEO Wayne Heili expressed his intention to step down in 2025.

Peninsula Energy has been $1.39.

Emerald Resources (ASX:EMR) has been up 2.4% on news of a record quarterly gold production at its Okvau Gold Mine in Cambodia.

The mine produced 31,888 ounces of gold during the December quarter, surpassing the production guidance of 25,000-30,000 ounces per quarter.

Emerald Resources has been $3.42.
