TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 7,000 police officers will be deployed to secure the inauguration of President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka. A security rehearsal was held at the Mobile Brigade Headquarters (Mako Brimob) in Kelapa Dua, Depok, West Java, on Friday, October 11, 2024.
"The troop assembly is aimed at ensuring the readiness of the National Police to maintain public order and security in support of the smooth inauguration of the President and Vice President-elect," said Police HR Assistant Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, on Friday, October 11, 2024.
The inauguration is scheduled for October 20, 2024, according to the General Elections Commission (KPU). The swearing-in ceremony for the President and Vice President-elect will take place during the Plenary Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR).
Earlier, Secretary General of the Gerindra Party, Ahmad Muzani, confirmed that the inauguration will be held at the Parliament Complex in Senayan. Meanwhile, President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana bade farewell to palace staff, security personnel, and journalists on Thursday, October 10. The couple posed for a group photo on the front steps of the palace.
According to Antara, as President Joko Widodo’s decade-long leadership comes to an end, the 7th President of Indonesia has made preparations for his return to Solo. Seventy percent of his personal belongings have already been sent to Solo, including his collection of 43 goats, which he plans to take with him.
